Recently, we had heartfelt conversations with the parents of children enrolled in our program from various schools in Kerala. Each call was a window into the daily lives and dreams of families who are striving to give their children a brighter future. We learned about the struggles and hopes they have for their children. Here’s what we discovered:
A Snapshot of Their Reality
- 80-95% of these families have 4-6 members and are facing serious financial difficulties. 85-95% of these families rely on just one income, which makes financial pressures overwhelming.
- Most parents work as daily wage labourers, and their dreams for their children are filled with hope and aspiration for a better future.
Academic Challenges
While parents are involved in their children’s education, they face several persistent challenges:
- 75% of parents report that their children perform at an average academic level.
- 60% of parents note that their children struggle with very low marks, reflecting their struggle with academic content.
- 30% of children are afraid to participate in school-level competitions.
Learning Difficulties
The data we collected highlights the learning obstacles children face:
- 75% of children get distracted easily and make careless mistakes.
- 70% struggle with understanding, memorising spellings, and recalling what they’ve learned.
- 58% of children have difficulty with math, particularly in multiplication and solving word problems.
- 33% of children face issues with writing speed and completing exams on time.
Building Stronger Characters
Behavioural issues are also a concern:
- 60% of children are distracted by TV or mobile phones.
- 40% of children show signs of emotional distress or anger, and 25% fear exams.
Parents agree that value education is crucial. They see it as a way to instil resilience, confidence, and a positive outlook in their children.
The Promise of Change
The parents hold deep hopes for their children’s future. They see our program as a path to improving learning abilities, excelling in academics, and developing the self-discipline and leadership skills necessary for a brighter future. They believe that with the right support, their children can secure good jobs, build positive personalities, and make meaningful contributions to society.
We want to invite you to join us in making these hopes a reality. Partner with us to give these children the support they need to succeed and create a brighter future for their families.
