Our goal is to provide marginalised children in India with high-quality, age-appropriate skill training that enhances their primary and secondary education, helping them achieve successful learning outcomes, lifelong growth, and responsible citizenship.
Building Future-ready Leaders
Starting as young as Grade 3, we help children become confident learners and responsible community members by building foundational skills, fostering values, and preparing them with future-ready competencies.
Enabling the Ecosystem
By empowering teachers to deliver impactful education, supporting family involvement, and driving state-level improvements, we enhance the entire educational ecosystem.
Dr. George Samuel, a former nuclear scientist, established EmpowerEd Foundation (formerly Value Education Trust) in 1992 with the mission to integrate value education into the curricula of schools and colleges in India. Recognising the inherent risks of acquiring knowledge without a strong moral footing, the foundation served as a platform to empower educators, positioning them as beacons for promoting values in the educational landscape. Since its establishment, the EmpowerEd Foundation has organised seminars and workshops for teachers, emphasising the integration of moral, ethical, and social values into school and college curricula.
We have impacted over 60,000 teachers, 10,000 students, and 5,000 parents in Kerala. Our training sessions have enhanced the learning environment, positively impacting students' academic achievements and nurturing enduring social and relationship skills. Since 2018, the organisation has continued its mission under the leadership of Mrs. Anne Elizabeth Samuel, who serves as the Director. After the 2018 floods, the Board of Trustees re-evaluated the organisation’s vision, recognising the pressing need to provide children, our future leaders with quality, value-based skill training. This training aims to enhance their primary and secondary education, fostering effective learning, lifelong growth, and responsible citizenship. As a result of this vision re-evaluation, we developed high-quality, age-appropriate skill training programs tailored specifically for children aged 8 to 15 years.
Dr George Samuel founded the organisation.
The training program expanded to 5 districts in Kerala, reaching 300 educational institutions.
The organisation extended its reach to 1,000 educational institutions across 10 districts in Kerala, positively influencing over 60,000 teachers, 10,000 students, and 5,000 parents.
A pilot of the SMARTlearner program was initiated in 1 Government-funded school in the Ernakulam district of Kerala.
The organisation’s COVID relief initiatives distributed dry rations and hygiene kits to more than 1,000 marginalised families in 13 villages in Kerala.
The Board of Trustees reassessed the organisation’s vision, recognising the imperative to provide marginalised children with quality, value-based skill training. Mrs. Anne Elizabeth Samuel assumed the role of Director.
The SMARTlearner program expanded to 3 schools across 2 districts in Kerala, impacting 90 children and training 7 teachers.
The SMARTlearner program extended to 10 schools, positively impacting 435 children through 30 trained teachers.
