Can a skill program transform a child’s life, turning challenges into opportunities? Meet Amala, a sixth-grade student from Ernakulam with big dreams.

Amala’s family struggles with a modest income of 12,000 rupees, and her parents lack formal education. Despite her determination to become a doctor, Amala faced academic hurdles, scoring poorly in the grade 5 first term exam – 36% in Maths, 43% in General Science, 53% in Social Science, and 28% in English.

Value Education Trust’s four-year skill development program has played a pivotal role in reshaping her academic journey. After 15 months, Amala’s academic results and confidence have soared.

She says, “Mathematics is easier; my confidence has grown. The brain exercises have enhanced my concentration, and the character education classes have instilled belief in hard work.”

Amala’s class teacher is impressed with her remarkable progress. In the sixth-grade first-term exam, she scored 60% in Maths, 65% in Science, 77% in Social Science, and 82% in English, achieving an overall average score of 71%.

Amala’s mother says, “Amala’s marks have significantly improved; she actively participates in school events.”

Amala’s journey showcases the power of education and support. With six months left in their abacus training, she and her peers are on the path to success.
