Last Saturday, we had the privilege of exploring that question with our Grade 7 learners through a Six Seconds Pop-Up Café, as part of EmpowerEd Foundation’s Blaze Program.
“Blooming Kindness”
That was the theme of our Pop-Up Café activity.
And the children brought it to life in a way only children can — candid, honest and deeply reflective.
Each student created a flower.
At the centre, they wrote the name of someone who showed them kindness.
On every petal, they wrote how that kindness was expressed.
It was simple. Yet powerful.
Their reflections opened up conversations on:
How kindness in small, everyday moments leaves a lasting impact
Why being kind to ourselves is just as important as being kind to others
How difficult it can be to practise kindness in the face of peer pressure and social expectations
The most meaningful takeaway came from the learners themselves:
“Sometimes we forget to say thank you for the little things.”
This Pop-Up Café was facilitated by Ms. Uma Achuthan for 15 enthusiastic young learners at a Government-aided school in Cochin as part of our mid-year evaluation activities for the Blaze communication module.
The flowers they made now sit as reminders; kindness grows when we pause, notice, and appreciate.
